Passenger Traffic Up at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in October

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, November 22, 2010—Passenger traffic at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) was up 16.37% in October with 74,639 passengers traveling through BTR.  Enplanements, or departing passengers, were up 17.96% at 37,141 passengers.  Deplanements, or arriving passengers, were up 14.78% at 37,498 passengers. Year-to-date, the BTR total passenger count is up 8.42% percent.


Delta Air Lines had the biggest year-over-year passenger gain in October with an 11.77% increase in enplanements; and Delta maintained its number one status in terms of passenger share.  Continental Airlines had the second highest passenger share followed by American Eagle and US Airways.  The US Airways Charlotte hub service, which began in June of this year, experienced their best month to date with over 7,300 total passengers in October.      


The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport projects that Thanksgiving Holiday travelers will increase by over 10% from the same period last year based on current passenger bookings.  Passengers are encouraged to arrive at BTR at least 1 ½ half hours prior to flight departure.
