Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Passenger Numbers Up 10% In 2010

Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport, January 7, 2011—Over 64,000 passengers transited the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) last month, surpassing the December 2009 total by 15%.  For all of 2010, the airport hosted 778,587 travelers, representing a 10% increase over 2009.

The addition of US Airways service from BTR to their Charlotte hub in June, 2010 was a significant factor in the higher passenger volume according to airport Director of Aviation, Anthony Marino.  "The US Airways service has been well received by our customers.  Many passengers have made favorable comments about making flight connections in Charlotte.”

Delta Air Lines had the highest BTR passenger share for the year, followed by Continental, American Eagle and US Airways.  Passenger numbers were up in 2010 for all BTR carriers.

Marino also noted that US Airways is offering a mid-winter sale at BTR.  Fares are $99 one-way to over 70 cities in the airline’s system.  The tickets must be purchased by January 20 and are applicable for travel through March 09.  More information can be found at
