Baton Rouge Metro Airport Update on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) is actively monitoring Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) developments and is working closely with our employees, tenants and airline partners to proactively reduce the risk of COVID-19 impacting our guests or our operations. The Airport remains open with no significant reduction in service at this time.

As part of our ongoing preparedness efforts surrounding COVID-19, BTR has implemented additional cleaning measures in the terminal and other areas. Measures that we are taking to minimize exposure possibilities for employees and passengers include:Cleaning Services.

Installation of 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer stations throughout the airport.

Signage added in all restrooms reminding travelers how to avoid the spread of germs and by practicing proper hand washing techniques.Increased frequency of cleaning at all high touch point areas, including escalator handrails, elevators, curbside, seating areas, tables, restrooms, and food service areas.

First Responder Safety

Enhanced Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits have been created for first responders for emergency calls.

Employee Communication

If you have a fever or you are worried that you may have possible COVID-19 symptoms or exposure, you should stay home and consult with a healthcare professional.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the restroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.

If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Avoid contact with sick people.

Airline Activity

A number of our airline partners have revised their policies on changing and cancelling flights due to coronavirus concerns. We are advising travelers to check with their individual airlines regarding changes.Additional information related to COVID-19 may be found at the CDC website (cdc.gov).
