Baton Rouge, LA – The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) Commission elected Andrew McCandless as Airport Commission Chairman during its February meeting. Mr. McCandless has served on the airport commission for six years, including as Vice Chairman in 2014 and 2016. He is the Founder and President of the technology firm Bascom-Hunter. McCandless is also an advisory board member for the Princeton University Center for Network Security and Access.

"I appreciate this opportunity to serve as the Baton Rouge Metro Airport Commission Chairman,” said McCandless. "The Airport has a huge economic impact in our area. Without the global access to the capital city provided by the major network airlines serving BTR, we would be at a competitive disadvantage with other cities in recruiting new businesses and expanding existing ones.”

Ralph Hennessy, Interim Director of Aviation, stated, "Andrew McCandless is an experienced airport commissioner who has an extensive business background. This combined experience will further benefit the Baton Rouge Metro Airport with Mr. McCandless as our new Commission Chairman.”

Mr. McCandless is originally from Houma, LA, and has a B.S. Degree from LSU in mechanical engineering. He is married to Stephanie McCandless, and they have two children.

Commissioner Cleve Dunn, who was previously elected Airport Commission Vice Chairman, will continue to serve in that position.
