Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport Passenger Volume Up 10 Consecutive Months
News Release - Baton Rouge, LA – For Immediate Release, July 21, 2017
Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport (BTR) passenger enplanements were up 3.93% in May and 3.05% year-to-date through May. A total of 69,661 passengers traveled in and out of the airport in May, and 311,670 year-to-date. Airport officials attribute the increases to additional seating capacity on American and United due to larger, dual-class aircraft being scheduled for BTR. American’s increase moved them up to a tie with Delta for passenger share year-to-date at 38% apiece. United’s share is at 24%.
BTR’s passenger count through May is the second-highest among commercial airports in Louisiana and the immediate Gulf region.
“We’re pleased that the community is helping support the additional seating capacity at BTR,” said Ralph Hennessy, Interim Director of Aviation at BTR. “Community support is the biggest factor in determining our air service. We encourage everyone always to check BTR.”
