Jared Smith Elected BTR Airport Commission Chairman for 2016
Baton Rouge, LA - The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is pleased to announce that Airport Commission Chairman Jared Smith has been elected to a second term as Chairman for the 2016 calendar year. Mr. Smith is the youngest airport commissioner to be elected as Chairman.
"The Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport is one of the great regional assets in the Capital area," said Smith. "Recently, we confirmed that BTR has a $1.1 billion economic impact on the region and accounts for 4,500 direct and indirect jobs. I am proud that the airport is collaborating with community leaders and the public in new ways, and I look forward to the continued progress in 2016."
Anthony Marino, Director of Aviation, stated, "BTR has benefited from Jared's knowledge, experience, and commitment to the airport. He listens to all sides and works to find a consensus with the commission." Marino noted that he looked forward to working with Smith in 2016 as the airport completes a new Master Plan, further develops the Aviation Business Park, and moves forward with the Community Campaign led by Emergent Method to expand support for the airport.
Jared Smith is a native of Rayville, LA, and graduated from LSU with a degree in English. He earned his MBA at Southeastern Louisiana University. Smith works for the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) as Director of Business Development for East Baton Rouge Parish.
